New US charges against pro-Palestinian student

24 March 2025 - 16:30:15
Category: Latest news ، General
The US has continued to accuse a student who was arrested for supporting Palestine and is facing deportation from the country, claiming that he hide his cooperation with UNRWA.

The US government has claimed that Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University student and pro-Palestinian who participated in demonstrations protesting the crimes of the Israeli regime, refused to provide information about his cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in his visa application, and this should be grounds for his deportation from the US.

International observers have cited the case as a test of America's claim to freedom of speech; Khalil's supporters say he was targeted for his public opposition to US policy towards the Zionist regime and the occupation of Gaza by the regime.

Mahmoud Khalil himself says he is a political prisoner.

UNRWA, a well-known UN agency, provides food and health care to Palestinian refugees and has become a turning point in the Israeli war in Gaza.

Since the start of the war on Gaza, the Israeli regime has increased its unsubstantiated claims against the agency and has banned UNRWA from operating in the occupied territories.

This approach of the Zionist regime caused some Western countries that support the regime, including the United States, to cut off their financial assistance to UNRWA.
