US sanctions two more ICC judges in support of Israel

US Secretary of State under Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, announced that his country has sanctioned two additional judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in support of Israel.

Rubio stated on Thursday local time: “Today, I am sanctioning two ICC judges, Gocha Lordkipanidze of Georgia and Erdenebalsuren Damdin of Mongolia, under Executive Order 14203, ‘Blocking Property of Certain Persons Associated with the International Criminal Court.’”

The Secretary of State added that these individuals were directly involved in the ICC’s efforts to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute Israeli nationals without their consent, including voting by majority in favor of the ICC ruling against Israel’s appeal on December 15.

Rubio claimed that the ICC continues to engage in political actions against Israel, creating a dangerous precedent for all nations.

He further stated: “We will not tolerate abuses of ICC power that violate the sovereignty of the United States and Israel or expose American and Israeli individuals to ICC jurisdiction unlawfully.”

In late August, the US had already imposed sanctions on two ICC judges and two prosecutors: Nicolas Yans Gilou of France, Nuzhat Shameem Khan of Fiji, Mame Mandiane Niang of Senegal, and Kimberly Prost of Canada.

Previously, the Trump administration had also sanctioned four other ICC judges.
