The Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tunisia emphasized that the reception of the Iranian theater production King Lear by Tunisian audiences was highly meaningful and encouraging.

Dr. Hadi Ajili, in an interview with Mizan, spoke about the staging of the Iranian play King Lear:

“Tunisian audiences warmly welcomed the Iranian performance of King Lear, directed by Elika Abdolrazaghi, at the Carthage International Theater Festival (JTC). The 1,300-seat Tunis Opera House was filled with spectators, and the performance attracted wide attention from both the public and critics, receiving numerous positive responses. Even about three weeks after the festival, feedback continues to reach the Iranian Cultural Attaché in Tunisia. We should not forget that this performance was presented as a special event at JTC, a major Arab and African theater festival.”

The Iranian Cultural Attaché in Tunisia added: “The recent performance was praised not only by the general public but also by Tunisian critics, highlighting the significant potential in Tunisia for Iranian theater groups to present their art to audiences.”

The musical production King Lear offered a melodic and musical interpretation, featuring performances by artists such as Narges Mohammadi, Reza Yazdani, and Elika Abdolrazaghi. The Iranian play was staged during the festival in November 2025, demonstrating the strong interest of Tunisian audiences in Iranian theater and artistic works.
