Transfer of 14 Iranian prisoners from Kuwait to the country
Mojtaba Shasti Karimi, Director General for Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a conversation with reporters, announced the release and transfer of a number of Iranian prisoners held in Kuwait to the country.
According to Shasti Karimi, through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, and with the coordination carried out by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kuwait, 14 Iranians who had been sentenced to imprisonment in Kuwaiti prisons were transferred to the country today and will serve the remainder of their sentences in prisons inside the country.
The Director General for Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: Based on the agreement on the transfer of convicted persons between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the government of Kuwait, eligible Iranian prisoners whose final sentences of conviction have been issued are transferred to prisons inside the country after completing administrative procedures.
In this regard, last year as well, 36 convicted persons who were serving their sentences were transferred to the country.
Shasti Karimi, while expressing appreciation to the officials of the government of Kuwait for their cooperation in the transfer of the convicted persons and for the consular support of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kuwait for Iranian prisoners in that country, expressed hope that the good consular and judicial cooperation between the two countries will continue.
