Ukraine rejects Trump’s peace proposal: “We will not give up our land"

Andriy Yermak told The Atlantic that giving up Ukrainian land would be unconstitutional and is not possible during President Zelensky’s tenure.

He stated: “No one should expect us to give up even an inch of Ukrainian soil. The president will not sign such a document, and the constitution forbids it.”

According to Yermak, in future negotiations, Ukraine will draw a clear red line against Russia’s territorial demands, and the only topic open for discussion under current circumstances is the “contact line” (the active border between the two countries).

He also announced, without giving further details, that consultations between U.S. and Ukrainian delegations will continue in the coming days.

Yermak, one of the closest figures in President Zelensky’s circle, has faced political pressure to resign over allegations of corruption in recent weeks. However, Zelensky continues to trust him and has tasked him with leading peace negotiations.

Previously, a senior Ukrainian source reported that, despite the optimism of the Trump administration regarding Ukraine’s peace talks, Ukrainian officials still believe that three key issues, which have been points of disagreement from the beginning, remain unresolved and do not appear easy to solve.

The first issue is territorial concessions; the second concerns the controversial U.S. proposal to limit the size of Ukraine’s military to 600,000 personnel; and finally, Ukraine’s request to give up its NATO membership bid. The Ukrainian source emphasized that this remains unacceptable, as it would effectively give Russia a veto over the Western military alliance, while Russia is not even a member itself.
