Hezbollah confirms the assassination of senior commander in Israeli strike
Earlier today, the Israeli regime targeted a residential home in southern Beirut, where the Hezbollah commander was reportedly present.
Hezbollah stated that the revered martyr continued to resist the Zionist enemy until the very last moment of his life, stressing that he was tireless in defending his land and people, dedicating his life to the resistance.
The Lebanese Resistance added that his martyrdom will only strengthen the determination and resolve of other fighters, who will continue on their path with steadfastness and courage in order to thwart all U.S. and Israeli schemes.
The Israeli military had earlier officially announced the assassination of Haitham al-Tabatabai, a senior Hezbollah commander, in a strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The Israeli regime’s military released a video of the strike on the location where al-Tabatabai was present, officially declaring the assassination successful.
Haitham Ali al-Tabatabai, born in 1968 to a Lebanese mother and an Iranian father, joined Hezbollah’s military wing at a young age.
During the Syrian civil war, al-Tabatabai assumed a significant role within Hezbollah, overseeing the construction of the organization’s infrastructure in the Syrian Golan Heights.
In 2015, he survived an Israeli assassination attack in Quneitra, Syria—an attack that killed figures such as General Mohammad Ali Allahdadi and Jihad Mughniyeh. After this, he was sent to Yemen for a period, where he was responsible for training Houthi forces.
He returned to Lebanon in 2022 and took command of Hezbollah’s special forces. Following the assassination of most of the organization’s senior military leaders, he effectively oversaw Hezbollah’s overall military command.
Now, on 23 November 2025, he has once again been targeted in an Israeli assassination operation—an assassination he had previously survived once before. It is worth noting that in 2018, the CIA placed a $5 million reward for information leading to his capture.
