The CEO of Mazandaran Wood and Paper Industries emphasized that Iran possesses significant untapped capacity in the wood and paper sector, which must be mobilized within the framework of a resilient and dynamic economy.

Dr. Ghasem Mohammadi told Mizan: “Despite the inherent challenges in securing sustainable raw materials, Iran’s wood and paper industry has tremendous potential for expanding wood cultivation, building a large domestic market, and tapping into export opportunities in regional markets. Realizing these capacities requires national determination and firm, targeted support for leading companies capable of implementing modernization and knowledge-based development projects. With a comprehensive approach and strong backing for this strategic industry and its leading enterprises, we can witness greater growth and prosperity in the country’s wood and paper sector, transforming it into one of the engines of economic development. This would not only promote self-sufficiency and reduce dependency, but also pave the way for a dynamic and resilient economy.”

The CEO of Mazandaran Wood and Paper Industries added: “With its rich natural resources and skilled human capital, Iran’s wood and paper industry holds vast, untapped capacities. Identifying and utilizing these potentials can play a crucial role in increasing production capabilities and achieving industrial self-sufficiency. This sector not only generates high added value, but—through its extensive supply chain from sustainable forestry to final product manufacturing—can serve as a driver of growth across multiple economic areas.”

Dr. Mohammadi concluded: “The wood and paper industry is considered a foundational sector closely connected to agriculture (for raw materials), construction, packaging, publishing, and education. Despite its strategic importance, the industry in Iran has consistently faced challenges such as fluctuations in exchange rates and the need for substantial investment in technological modernization.”
