Germany accused of midnight migrant dumps across borders
Amid rising tensions over migration across Europe, Germany has been accused of secretly dropping off migrants on the Dutch side of the border during the night.
Last year, around 240,000 illegal border crossings were recorded across the European Union — with Germany among the main destinations for migrants.
Under Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the German government has been tightening its migration policies.
According to The Express, German authorities appear to be using every possible measure to suppress migration — including covertly transporting and abandoning migrants across the border into the Netherlands.
An investigation by the Dutch newspaper De Gelderlander revealed that over the past three months, Germany has left at least 158 migrants in Dutch border towns without notifying local authorities.
The investigation began after a video circulated on social media showing several people being forced out of a German police vehicle in the middle of the night earlier this year in Venlo, a southeastern Dutch town.
Reports suggest that in October alone, German police abandoned 63 migrants inside Dutch territory.
Residents of Heerlenberg, a town on the German-Dutch border, said that unfamiliar individuals have been approaching them, asking to borrow their phones or connect to the internet — a sign of stranded migrants left without help or resources.
