Trump pardons Rudy Giuliani and 76 of his convicted allies

The White House, confirming the announcement, stated that Trump had granted pardons to members of his 2020 campaign legal team, including Rudy Giuliani, Kenneth Chesebro, and Sidney Powell, along with 74 others who had been convicted of participating in a scheme to alter the list of Electoral College representatives in several states.

According to the White House statement, the pardons also cover members of Trump’s administration and campaign staff.

As reported by Politico, Rudy Giuliani — former mayor of New York City and a former senior Justice Department official — had pressured state legislatures after the 2020 election, which resulted in Biden’s victory, to reject certification of Biden’s wins in key battleground states.

The list also includes Mark Meadows, Trump’s White House Chief of Staff in 2020, who acted as a crucial intermediary between Trump and state officials; and John Eastman and Kenneth Chesebro, two attorneys who helped design a legal strategy to pressure then–Vice President Mike Pence into rejecting the election results during the January 6, 2021 congressional session.

Other notable names include Boris Epshteyn, a longtime Trump adviser, and Sidney Powell, a conservative lawyer known for filing multiple lawsuits in key states challenging the 2020 election outcome.
