Trump’s approval ratings plummet in new poll
A new Emerson College poll released on Friday shows that President Donald Trump’s approval rating is in decline, as Democrats appear more energized than Republicans heading into next year’s midterm elections.
According to the poll, 41% of respondents said they approve of Trump’s performance as president — a four-point drop from 45% in October.
Meanwhile, 71% of Democratic voters said they are motivated to vote in the upcoming midterm elections, compared to 60% of Republicans and 42% of independents.
Overall, 57% of all voters said they feel more motivated to vote than usual, while 12% said they feel less motivated, and 31% said their motivation remains the same.
As reported by The Hill, the poll comes shortly after Republicans suffered several defeats to Democrats in Tuesday’s elections — results widely viewed as a referendum on Trump’s first year of his second term.
