The Israeli army’s former military prosecutor, who was arrested on Monday, has been placed under house arrest.

The Tel Aviv District Court on Friday ordered the release of Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, the former chief military prosecutor of the Israeli regime, and ruled that she remain under house arrest for 10 days.

Tomer-Yerushalmi was dismissed from her position after she leaked footage showing Israeli soldiers torturing and gang-raping a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman detention facility.

Following the publication of the video, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi dismissed her from her post, and she was subsequently taken into custody.

According to the court’s decision, Tomer-Yerushalmi is permitted to leave her residence only to meet with her lawyer — with prior notification to the Investigations Unit — but is barred from contacting other individuals connected to the case for 55 days.

Currently, more than 10,000 Palestinians — including dozens of women and minors — are held in Israeli prisons. According to both Israeli and Palestinian human rights organizations, many detainees are subjected to torture, starvation, and medical neglect, with several reported deaths in custody.
