Israeli police arrest former military prosecutor
Israeli police have arrested Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, the former Military Advocate General who recently resigned, on charges of obstructing an investigation. Reports indicate that she had intentionally concealed her mobile phone.
Hebrew media also reported that Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of National Security, announced on Monday that the former prosecutor had been arrested as part of an investigation into the publication of a video showing Israeli soldiers torturing a Palestinian prisoner at the Sde Teiman detention facility.
The Israeli army had announced on Friday that Tomer-Yerushalmi resigned following the release of the controversial video.
On Sunday, contact with the former official was cut off for several hours, sparking speculation about a possible suicide attempt.
