Syria’s silent slaughter: 67 lives lost in one month
According to the organization, the victims include 59 men, seven women, and one child.
Geographically, Homs province recorded the highest number of victims, with 20 killings (15 men, four women, and one child). It was followed by Aleppo with 12 cases (all men) and Hama with 11 cases (all men).
In Rural Damascus, eight killings (seven men and one woman) were reported, while Idlib witnessed six (four men and two women). In Latakia, five cases were recorded; Tartous and Daraa each reported two cases, and Damascus registered a single killing.
The rights organization stated that a portion of these crimes appeared to be sectarianly motivated. Specifically, 18 cases in Homs, five in Rural Damascus, three each in Hama, Latakia, and Idlib, and two each in Tartous and Daraa, as well as one each in Aleppo and Damascus, were identified as sectarian in nature.
According to Al Mayadeen, amid the continued rise in such violations, Syrian citizens have called for an end to the bloodshed and for greater protection of civilians, accusing security agencies of negligence in safeguarding lives and failing to hold perpetrators of sectarian crimes accountable.
