Mahdieh Esfandiari placed on exchange channel

Vahid Jalalzadeh, Consular, Parliamentary, and Iranian Affairs Deputy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding the latest status of Mahdieh Esfandiari in a French prison, said: “Mahdieh Esfandiari has been taken hostage by France. A country that claims to be the champion of freedom and is very assertive on such matters has taken Esfandiari hostage because of her activity on a Telegram channel in support of the oppressed people of Gaza and Palestine.”

He added: “From the very beginning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated its consular and legal measures. This includes requesting our ambassador to visit the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the local prosecutor’s office. We appointed a lawyer for her and held ten consular meetings with Ms. Esfandiari.”

Jalalzadeh continued: “The Foreign Minister announced that Esfandiari has been placed on the exchange channel, and we have prepared a political and consular package which must be executed by both countries. We hope this will happen soon and that we will witness Esfandiari’s return to our beloved country.”

The Deputy Minister also spoke about the Porsman system, stating: “An Iranian, wherever they are in the world, does not need a visa to enter their own country. However, some Iranians may feel they might have legal cases in the judiciary. We have established a system called ‘Porsman’ within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of relevant agencies, which the Islamic Consultative Assembly later codified into law.”

Jalalzadeh added: “This system allows Iranians who wish to check their legal status within the country to log in and find out whether they have any legal cases or not.”
