Israel confirms receipt of the bodies of four prisoners
According to Channel 13 News in Israel, the army stated that last night (Monday), in accordance with the Gaza war ceasefire, it took possession of the bodies of four Israeli prisoners from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
An army spokesperson said the bodies were transferred from the Red Cross to the Israeli Medical Organization for examination and identification procedures.
Thus, the bodies of four out of 28 Israeli prisoners killed in Gaza during Israeli airstrikes have been handed over to Israel, while the remaining 24 bodies are still buried under the rubble in Gaza.
The operation to free living Israeli prisoners took place yesterday morning (Monday) under complex security arrangements and direct supervision of the Red Cross and international mediators. According to the agreement, Hamas released all living Israeli prisoners.
The International Committee of the Red Cross also announced Monday evening that during the prisoner exchange, 20 living Israeli captives were released in exchange for 1,968 Palestinian prisoners. The Red Cross added that it also handed over the bodies of four deceased Israeli hostages to Israeli authorities.
