Araghchi: I have had no contact with Witkoff
The Foreign Minister, rejecting a report published by the Kuwaiti daily Al-Jarida, said he has had no contact with the U.S. representative.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, dismissed speculation about any contact with Steve Witkoff, the U.S. representative for West Asia, while speaking to reporters in the government courtyard.
Araghchi said, “The speculation by Al-Jarida newspaper of Kuwait is incorrect, and I categorically deny it; there has been no contact.”
The Kuwaiti daily Al-Jarida had recently claimed that Witkoff, in a phone call with Araghchi, had asked Iran to support former President Trump’s proposed peace plan for Gaza.
