Iran’s Attorney General in meeting with Turkish counterpart: Iran always defends the oppressed
During the meeting, Movahedi expressed gratitude for the condolences and solidarity shown by the Turkish side regarding the martyrdom of Iranian commanders, nuclear scientists, and defenseless civilians at the hands of the illegitimate Zionist regime.
He stated: “Years ago, Imam Khomeini exposed the child-killing nature of this regime. The reason for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the oppressed in Gaza and Palestine—whether Shi’a or Sunni—is a human duty. Iran has always stood with the oppressed and remains steadfast in this path.”
Emphasizing that the formation of a “Union of Attorneys General of Islamic Countries” could strengthen solidarity among member states under current circumstances, Movahedi recalled that during the recent aggression by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, President Erdoğan was the first to condemn the act and voice support for the Islamic Republic.
He further stressed the importance of strengthening relations between Iran, Turkey, and other regional countries in legal, criminal, and technological fields, calling it essential for achieving shared regional interests.
For his part, the Turkish Attorney General highlighted the importance of expanding legal and judicial cooperation, saying: “We, as Attorneys General of Islamic countries, must work to strengthen our mutual relations.”
Regarding the transfer of Iranian prisoners, he noted: “The transfer of Iranian inmates, especially women, is on our agenda as a humanitarian duty.”
On Iran’s proposal to establish the “Union of Attorneys General of Islamic Countries,” the Turkish official stated that consultations are underway with the Foreign Minister and Minister of Justice, and once confirmed, the matter will be formally announced.
He also thanked the Iranian judicial delegation for arranging the bilateral meeting, adding: “Our two countries share historical, cultural, and geographical ties. As neighbors, we must expand our cooperation even further.”
Concluding his remarks, the Turkish Attorney General denounced the criminal actions of the Zionist regime, warning: “Today they attack Iran; tomorrow it could be Turkey, Syria, or Iraq. The Zionist regime seeks to create a so-called ‘David’s Corridor’ and will use any means to achieve it. In such circumstances, we must strive to become stronger together.”
