Eslami: The damaged nuclear facilities will be rebuilt
Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, told Sky News that he pledges the targeted facilities will be restored despite international pressure and the threat of further Israeli attacks.
He said: “It is completely natural that in the course of a military strike against facilities, they are damaged and infrastructure is destroyed. What matters is that science, knowledge, technology, and industry have deep and longstanding roots in Iran’s history.”
Eslami also defended Iran’s right to develop nuclear capabilities, stressing that the program is for peaceful purposes.
When asked why Iran needs to enrich uranium at high levels, he said: “The level of enrichment, as discussed in public opinion and the media, is fueled by politicians, adventurers, and our enemies. High enrichment levels are not necessarily for weapons. We need higher enrichment for our precise measuring instruments.”
He added: “No one sells these data-x-items to us. We have been under sanctions for years. We need these products for the safety systems of our reactors and for sensitive processes required to manage them.”
Eslami further told Sky News that there will be no direct negotiations with the United States.
He emphasized: “The U.S. government has committed grave injustices against the Iranian people. Since the Islamic Revolution, it has inflicted heavy blows on Iran, and most recently it has carried out military attacks against our country.”
The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization continued: “An enemy is an enemy, even if it does not show hostility. While their hostility is great, talking with such an enemy is futile.”
Eslami pointed out: “While indirect negotiations were taking place and talks were ongoing, they carried out military operations. They came to the negotiating table and then abandoned it, forgetting the promises and agreements they had made.”
