Political Analyst: Israel’s days are numbered

An analyst for Yedioth Ahronoth wrote that Israel is on the path to collapse and may not survive beyond the next two years.

Lior Ben Shaul, a political analyst for Yedioth Ahronoth, warned that Israel is facing an “existential collapse,” and if current security, political, and social developments continue, it may not last more than two years.

He added: “We are not just facing a security crisis or a political deadlock; what we are experiencing today is an existential earthquake shaking the very foundations of the Zionist project. Hamas not only won on the battlefield but also shattered the myth of Israel’s invincibility and exposed our fragility to the world.”

Pointing to signs of collapse within Israeli society and the flight of Israelis “like rats,” Ben Shaul continued: “We are sinking, and people are fleeing. Flights to Europe, the U.S., and Canada are fully booked. Embassies are overwhelmed with immigration requests. Families are quietly selling their assets and sending their children abroad to study, with no intention of returning.”

He described Israel’s daily reality as “filled with humiliation and confusion,” writing: “Soldiers cry in front of cameras, settlers flee from the south and north, ministers shout in vain, and the entire society gets through the day on sedatives.”

Ben Shaul stressed that the recent war revealed truths beyond the battlefield: “Hamas exposed our fear and ignited a fire of hatred that is consuming us from within. In the West Bank, a new intifada is looming; Arabs have regained confidence from within; and we are scattered, frightened, and collapsing.”

Concluding his commentary, he offered a bleak forecast for Israel’s future: “Within two years, Israel as we know it today will no longer exist. It may turn into a besieged fortress surviving on America’s trickle of aid, or it may collapse entirely and the land will return to its rightful owners. Then the world will remember the moment when Israel lost its humanity—and lost everything.”
