UNRWA: Israelis targeted 9 schools in 5 days
UNRWA stated that 12 of its facilities were directly struck by Israeli attacks between September 11 and September 16.
According to the agency, among the facilities hit in Gaza City were nine schools and two health centers, all of which were providing shelter for over 11,000 displaced people. UNRWA further noted that Israeli forces have also tightened restrictions on movement and access in the West Bank.
The statement added that the restrictions in the West Bank include the installation of new roadblocks to control Palestinians’ movement into and out of population centers.
Meanwhile, Dr. Munir al-Bursh, Director-General of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, said two days ago that in light of the ongoing brutal Israeli assaults and the “war of starvation” against civilians, Gaza is facing a humanitarian catastrophe.
He stressed that Israeli occupation forces continue to forcibly displace people in Gaza and intend to confine hundreds of thousands in camps resembling Nazi labor camps, without providing even the most basic necessities of life.
Dr. al-Bursh reported that nearly 270,000 Palestinians have so far been displaced from Gaza City, while more than 900,000 continue to resist and refuse to abandon their land despite relentless bombardment and genocide.
He added that Israel has designated only 12 percent of Gaza’s land as so-called “safe zones,” where it intends to crowd at least 1.7 million people.
