3 police officers killed in deadly Pennsylvania shooting
American media reported that a deadly shooting in Pennsylvania resulted in the deaths of three police officers and injuries to two others. The shooter was also killed.
According to reports, the officers who were killed and injured were responding to a domestic violence investigation.
Christopher Paris, Chief of the Pennsylvania State Police, confirmed that the shooter was killed but provided few details about the deadly events that occurred in York. Paris stated that the Pennsylvania State Police, in cooperation with the York District Attorney’s Office, will form a main case team, and he has been in contact with the FBI.
Josh Shapiro, Governor of Pennsylvania, quickly traveled to the scene in the borough of North Codorus, about 185 kilometers (115 miles) west of Philadelphia, to meet with the families of the fallen and injured officers.
Shapiro said: “This is an utterly tragic and devastating day for the city of York and the entire state of Pennsylvania.”
The shooting at five officers comes immediately after the death of another officer, which had already shocked the city of fewer than 500,000 residents.
According to archived U.S. gun violence statistics, at least 239 police officers in the United States have been killed or injured so far in 2025.
