Suspect arrested in Charlie Kirk murder
On Friday, September 12, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the individual suspected of killing Charlie Kirk, the American conservative activist, has been taken into custody.
According to Fox News, Trump said: “We can say with high confidence that the suspect in Kirk’s murder has been arrested; he was identified by one of Kirk’s close associates.”
The U.S. President also mentioned that an official statement on the matter would be released today.
American media reported last Wednesday that Charlie Kirk was assassinated in Utah. Kirk was a prominent supporter of Trump and a conservative media figure.
One of Kirk’s aides stated that he had traveled to Utah with a private security team, and the University of Utah Police along with local authorities were providing security at the event where he was scheduled to speak.
A few hours after the incident, Trump confirmed Kirk’s death, posting on Truth Social that Charlie Kirk had passed away at the age of 31.
