What illnesses does Trump suffer from?

While rumors about the U.S. president’s death have gone viral on social media, issues of old age, his medical history, and remarks from those around him have resurfaced in some media outlets, warranting closer examination.

According to The Economic Times, the rumor of Donald Trump’s death, which recently circulated widely on social media, appears to be less a matter of fact and more a combination of speculation, reports about his health, and controversial comments made by his associates.

One key factor fueling the death rumors was a statement made by Trump’s vice president, J.D. Vance, during an interview with USA Today.

Vance told USA Today: “Yes, terrible tragedies do happen, but I am very confident that the president is in good health. He is set to complete the rest of his term and do great things for the American people. If a terrible tragedy were to occur, I can’t imagine a better on-the-job training than what I’ve experienced over the past 200 days.”

This comment triggered a wave of speculation about Trump’s possible death.

Another factor that fed into the rumors was his medical history. In July, the White House confirmed that he suffers from chronic venous insufficiency—a condition that causes leg swelling. Photos of his swollen legs had previously circulated widely online.

Although rumors of the 79-year-old Trump’s death have been denied, he does suffer from health issues commonly associated with his age.

Medical reports indicate that Trump has high cholesterol and takes atorvastatin (Lipitor). His high weight and body mass index place him in the range of mild obesity, increasing his risk of cardiovascular disease.

Other reports suggest that Trump has had kidney or prostate issues and, for a period of time, took finasteride, a drug usually prescribed for hair loss or enlarged prostate.

There have also been past reports of coronary artery calcification, a sign of mild heart disease.

In 2019, an unannounced visit to Walter Reed Hospital sparked speculation about possible health problems, but the White House described it as a routine check-up.

Some of his critics have questioned his mental health—particularly regarding impulsive behavior or lack of focus—but no official medical evidence has ever confirmed any psychiatric illness.
