Croatian president calls for official recognition of Palestine
Croatian President Zoran Milanović has called on his government to initiate the process in parliament to officially recognize an independent Palestinian state.
According to Anadolu, the Croatian presidential office announced in a statement on Wednesday night that during a meeting with Farsen Aghabekian, an official of the Palestinian Authority, Milanović said: “Croatia, in its efforts to end the war and the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, must recognize Palestine.”
He added that recognizing the Palestinian people’s sovereignty over their own land is the only path toward achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
Milanović strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on civilians and the occupation of Gaza, and urged the Croatian government to begin the recognition process in parliament.
