U.S. dangerous plan for Lebanon: Threat to identity and territory

Al-Binaa reported that European diplomatic sources believe the outcome of U.S. efforts to mediate between Lebanon and Israel will be no different from the failure of Washington’s similar attempts between Syria and the Israeli regime.

According to the newspaper, Thomas Barrack, the U.S. envoy to Syria, acts not as a political mediator but as a “real estate broker,” bringing along a portfolio of investors to whom he has promised a large colonial project in the Middle East. Following the failure of this project in Gaza, Barrack is now seeking to implement it in Lebanon—a plan that would involve the evacuation and destruction of dozens of Lebanese border villages, turning them into a security zone under Israeli control, followed by economic and developmental exploitation.

Al-Binaa also noted that Barrack had previously convinced Syria’s new regime to lease the Golan Heights to Israel for 25 years—a lease automatically renewable and funded by American Jewish investors.

The newspaper emphasized that today’s proposed plan for Lebanon follows the same logic. European sources told Al-Binaa that although Europe opposes such projects, it cannot prevent them unless the official Lebanese government explicitly and publicly takes a stance against these plans.

According to these sources, any talk of compromise or middle-ground solutions is, in reality, a form of surrender. Lebanon faces only two options: either submit to Israeli plans and lose its identity and territory, or resist and confront them with all the consequences that entails.
