Netanyahu’s popularity in the U.S. hits rock bottom

According to the results of a new poll, Benjamin Netanyahu has been ranked as the most disliked foreign politician among the American public.

The latest Gallup poll, conducted in July 2025, found that the Israeli Prime Minister received the lowest favorability rating among foreign leaders, with 52% viewing him unfavorably and only 29% holding a favorable opinion.

According to the news website TNR, the same poll showed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was the most popular foreign politician in the U.S., with 52% positive and 34% negative ratings.

Domestically, independent Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont emerged as the most popular U.S. politician, with 49% viewing him positively versus 38% negatively.

TNR noted that this survey reflects significant shifts in American public attitudes toward both domestic and foreign leaders, showing how international issues—particularly the war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East—have had a direct impact on public opinion in the United States.

Earlier, the American Magazine Foreign Policy published an article by Dion Nissenbaum, senior international correspondent at The Wall Street Journal, highlighting that Israel’s popularity in the U.S. has reached its lowest point in history.

The article attributed this shift to the global backlash sparked by images of starving children in Gaza, which have fueled widespread condemnation of Israel’s policies that have worsened famine conditions.

The author added that Netanyahu, through the current war, seeks to block any possibility of a Palestinian state, expand Israel’s borders, and reassert control over the Gaza Strip.
