Israeli general: New Gaza operation will fail

According to Sama News Agency, Brik added that the operation will also lead to the killing of captives in the Gaza Strip, but Hamas will not be defeated.

He stated that with the full occupation of Gaza City, a large number of soldiers would be killed or wounded merely for the political survival of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet.

Brik stressed: “The army’s plan to fully occupy Gaza City will be a disaster for the military and for Israel.”

He further noted that Hamas fighters in Gaza City have tunnels stretching hundreds of meters, which they freely move through.

The reserve general emphasized: “The army can besiege Gaza City, but it cannot besiege the tunnels.”

Brik warned that the prolonged presence of the army in Gaza would expose soldiers to the risk of attacks and a war of attrition.

He concluded: “Because of an illogical cabinet detached from reality, Israel may be heading toward the abyss of destruction.”
