The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), in its latest report on the situation in Gaza, announced that since the establishment of the food distribution system in the Gaza Strip, at least 1,889 people have been killed while waiting in food distribution lines.

According to OCHA, from May 27 to August 18, 2025, these attacks have led to the deaths of at least 1,889 individuals. In just the past week alone, more than 400 people were killed and nearly 2,700 injured. Since the start of Israel’s assault on Gaza in October 2023, the death toll has surpassed 62,000, with around 156,000 wounded.

The report also highlights massive displacement. Between August 12 and 20, more than 16,000 people were forced to leave their homes in eastern Gaza. Since March, nearly 800,000 people have been displaced.

More than one million people still require tents and temporary shelters. Despite the reopening of some aid entry routes, administrative restrictions and logistical obstacles continue to prevent urgent needs from being met.

The health situation is also described as dire, with insulin stocks expected to last only one month and rehabilitation services covering less than half of existing facilities.
