Iran’s missile message: No strategic site in Israel is safe
In a report titled “Time Bombs in the Heart of Israel’s Population,” the Hebrew-language website stated: “The Iranian missiles fired at the Bazan power plant taught us the lesson that Israel’s infrastructure facilities enjoy no absolute immunity, and the construction of underground facilities has become a security necessity.”
The report, referring to the impact of Iranian missiles on the regime’s power facilities during the recent 12-day imposed war, said: “On the morning of June 16, an Iranian missile struck the Bazan power plant, killing three people who were trapped amid the rubble and the flames that erupted at the site.”
Israel Hayom acknowledged: “This attack caused significant damage to electricity facilities, pipelines, and energy infrastructure. Subsequently, the Energy Agency announced that the plant had been completely shut down and would gradually return to operation within several months.”
The report continued: “In the first hours after the strike on the Bazan power plant, military censors attempted to prevent disclosure of the exact impact site, so as not to help the Iranians determine the direction of the fire or assist them in targeting other vital facilities in the area. However, after Al Jazeera broadcast footage of the direct hit, even the censors realized it was no longer possible to prevent the dissemination of images of the strike.”
The Zionist outlet added: “Nevertheless, this plan [for undergrounding infrastructure] comes with very high costs, and for now it is not being publicly promoted. One can only hope that this or other plans that could reduce the threat will be implemented before it is too late.”
Israel Hayom stressed: “Across Israel there are dozens of infrastructure sites, including power generation and transmission stations, petrochemical plants, gas platforms, and offshore gas reception facilities. The locations of many of these infrastructures, along with their chokepoints and sensitive spots, are well known.”
According to the report, the list of vital infrastructures in the occupied territories is a classified list drawn up by the Committee for the Protection of Strategic Infrastructure, under the supervision of the Internal Emergency Organization and with the participation of representatives from the military and relevant cabinet ministries.
Israel Hayom emphasized: “There is no doubt that the Iranians were targeting Israel’s security and internal infrastructure such as the Air Force—a strike that could have led to a major disaster and the paralysis of nationwide systems in Israel.”
The report concluded: “When it comes to long-range surface-to-surface missiles, even a single strike can be deadly and cause massive destruction.”
