Resignation of the American mediator from Washington’s Gaza negotiation team

Hebrew media reported that “Basharah Buhbhah” withdrew from continuing his cooperation with the American negotiation team on the Gaza ceasefire.

According to the reports, he cited the failure of the recent round of talks between the Zionist regime and Hamas, and the full support of “Steve Witkoff,” the U.S. President’s envoy for West Asia, for the positions of “Benjamin Netanyahu,” the Prime Minister of the occupying regime, as the reason for his decision.

He said that Witkoff’s approach has caused the “stalemate in the dialogue process.”

Buhbhah emphasized that from now on, he will continue his efforts outside official frameworks.

In a message addressed to the people of Gaza on Facebook, he wrote: “I am not a mediator in the precise sense of the word, but I share your pain and suffering. My mission is to bring your voice to all the officials. I will not forget you. The ceasefire negotiations are currently halted.”

This Palestinian-American businessman proposed a 70-day ceasefire plan in May, which included the release of 10 Zionist prisoners in two stages. However, Israeli officials deemed the plan “unacceptable” and claimed that Hamas’s conditions were completely at odds with Tel Aviv’s war objectives.

Buhbhah has a background in the Palestinian negotiation delegation in multilateral talks during the 1990s. He has also worked with the Palestinian newspaper Al-Fajr and has been active in humanitarian organizations and political and social fields related to the Palestinian issue.
