In a statement on developments in the Caucasus region, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that while it supports the adoption of all necessary measures, it believes that the establishment of communication routes and the unblocking of transport networks will only serve the stability, security, and economic development of regional nations if carried out within the framework of mutual interests and without foreign interference.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in its statement on developments in the Caucasus, expressed concern over the negative consequences of any form of foreign intervention. The statement read:

The Islamic Republic of Iran is closely monitoring ongoing developments in the South Caucasus and is in contact with both neighboring countries, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, regarding these events.

Undoubtedly, peace and stability in the Caucasus are in the interest of all regional countries. The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the finalization of a peace agreement between the two countries and regards this as an important step toward achieving lasting peace in the region.

At the same time, Iran expresses concern over the negative consequences of any form of foreign interference—especially in areas adjacent to shared borders—that could undermine the region’s security and lasting stability.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, while emphasizing the need to adopt all political, legal, and economic measures to safeguard its national rights and interests, believes that the creation of communication routes and the removal of blockages in transportation networks will serve the stability, security, and economic development of the nations of the region only if pursued within the framework of mutual interests, respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and without foreign interference.

The Islamic Republic of Iran stands ready to continue constructive cooperation based on mutual interests with both the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia to safeguard peace, stability, and economic development in the region through bilateral and regional cooperation mechanisms such as the 3+3 format.
