From siege to slaughter: Israel’s strategy for Gaza sparks global alarm
Preliminary and unconfirmed reports suggest that Netanyahu has instructed the Israeli military to proceed with the full occupation of Gaza. According to sources, the Israeli military chief of staff, Herzi Halevi, has opposed the plan.
However, Netanyahu’s office has reportedly confirmed: “A decision has been made; Israel intends to occupy the Gaza Strip.”
Experts caution that any escalation of Israeli military operations, particularly a full-scale ground invasion, would amount to mass civilian casualties and total humanitarian breakdown.
Such a premeditated escalation would mark a new phase in what is already seen as an ongoing genocide by Israel against Palestinians — one carried out openly in front of an international community that continues to provide political, financial, and military cover to the perpetrators.
This genocide, experts stress, is not the result of spontaneous battlefield developments, but rather of a deliberate and conscious policy.
Premeditated military escalation
Strong indications show that Israel’s leadership plans to intensify its genocidal campaign, culminating in the military occupation of all of Gaza.
Existing data indicates that Netanyahu has already approved a broad framework for seizing the entire Strip by force.
This planned escalation violates international law, including international humanitarian law and the Genocide Convention.
The move follows months of deliberate confinement of over 2 million Palestinians into less than 15% of Gaza, systematic destruction of homes, the elimination of around 84% of hospitals and health centers, the collapse of over 95% of water and sanitation systems, and the shutdown of all schools.
These acts reflect a deliberate strategy to impose conditions of life intended to destroy the Palestinian population in Gaza — a protected national group — and fit a pattern of genocidal actions.
Humanitarian collapse and forced displacement
On-the-ground assessments by human rights organizations show that Gaza is undergoing the worst phase of human collapse since the genocide began in October 2023.
More than 90% of the population has been forcibly displaced multiple times due to relentless bombing and destruction.
Famine has escalated, claiming hundreds of lives, and the entire population now suffers from severe food insecurity.
The health system is on the verge of collapse, overwhelmed by catastrophic pressure and severe shortages of medicine and basic supplies.
The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor warns that Israel’s plan to intensify military operations signals an extremely dangerous level of brutality and reflects the impunity Israel continues to enjoy.
Over the past 22 months, Israeli forces have committed some of the gravest crimes against Palestinian civilians, systematically stripping them of their humanity.
Gaza now faces unprecedented devastation, enabled by unconditional U.S. political and military support and broad international complicity, which has allowed these crimes to go unchecked.
The Gaza Strip is the most densely populated area on Earth, with 2.3 million people crammed into just 365 square kilometers, living without infrastructure or protection.
Any further ground invasion would lead to catastrophic human losses, especially among women and children, who typically account for over 70% of Israeli attacks’ victims.
This would mean mass slaughter in a confined space, where civilians have no safe escape.
Deception campaign and humanitarian facade
Since July 26, Israel has reportedly launched a deceptive campaign falsely claiming improvements in humanitarian conditions in Gaza — while maintaining the siege and keeping the population in starvation.
Current aid shipments cover less than 15% of essential needs, and these minimal increases aim merely to calm global public opinion and reduce pressure from the famine.
The greater danger is that these token aid deliveries will be used as a cover for intensified genocide and military entrenchment in Gaza.
The participation of several countries in superficial efforts — like increased airdrops — without addressing the root causes of starvation and blockade, risks creating a false humanitarian or political shield for policies aimed at the destruction of Gaza and its people.
It is essential to immediately examine the responsibilities of these governments and to ensure their aid is not legitimizing or concealing genocidal actions.
They must take urgent action to halt ongoing crimes and fulfill their obligations under international law.
