Slovenia bans imports of goods produced in Israeli settlements
In an official statement, the Slovenian government declared: "The government is banning the import of goods originating from settlements located in territories occupied by Israel, as well as any attempts to circumvent these import restrictions."
The statement also included instructions for relevant ministries to explore the possibility of banning exports from Slovenia to these Israeli-occupied territories.
According to a report by the Al Mayadeen news network, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob said in a statement: "The actions of the Israeli cabinet, including the construction of illegal settlements, confiscation of Palestinian property, forced displacement, and demolition of homes, constitute serious and repeated violations of international humanitarian law."
Golob emphasized: "These actions not only endanger the lives and dignity of Palestinians but also undermine the foundations of the international order."
In parallel with the import ban, the Slovenian government announced the delivery of humanitarian aid—consisting of food and blankets worth approximately €900,000—to Palestinians affected by the war in Gaza.
In June of last year, Slovenia officially recognized the State of Palestine, following in the footsteps of Spain, Ireland, and Norway.
