Israeli forces raid Al Jazeera office again

Sources told Al Jazeera this morning (Monday) that Israeli army forces entered the network’s premises and posted a new order on the front door extending the office’s closure for another 60 days.

This action comes after a similar order was issued by the Israeli army in September, when the office was shut down, its equipment and documents were seized, and staff were banned from using their vehicles.

In a statement, Al Jazeera condemned the move, describing it as an organized attempt to prevent the truth from being shown on the ground in the occupied territories and the Gaza Strip.

The statement called the military raid on a media office a “criminal act,” stressing that Israel, by continuing to suppress independent media, seeks to conceal its actions in Gaza and the West Bank.

Al Jazeera rejected Tel Aviv’s justifications for the raid as “baseless and devoid of legal merit,” holding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet directly responsible for the safety of its journalists.

The network also announced that it would pursue legal and international action over the raid and reaffirmed its commitment to continue its media work “despite attempts to silence its voice.”
