The Sentence of hand amputation for three professional thieves with over 40 private plaintiffs carried out in West Azerbaijan Province / Convicts refused to return several kilograms of stolen gold from homes
These individuals were professional criminals with over 40 private complainants spread across four provinces of the country. The convicts were arrested several years ago, and judicial cases were opened against them. Since the beginning of the legal proceedings, prison authorities and judicial officials in West Azerbaijan Province made numerous efforts to identify and retrieve the stolen items—primarily gold jewelry—and to encourage the convicts to return the property, express remorse, and benefit from legal leniencies.
However, the convicts refused to cooperate with the authorities or show any signs of repentance throughout the process. According to the official documentation in the case, several kilograms of gold had been stolen from homes in various provinces, and the suspects were eventually apprehended during the act of burglary in the city of Urmia.
In one of the meetings held between judicial officials and the convicts, aimed at negotiating the return of the stolen property, one of the convicts reportedly said, “If we intended to return the stolen goods, we wouldn’t have stolen them in the first place.”
Ultimately, due to the convicts' persistent non-cooperation and refusal to return the stolen assets, the sentence of hand amputation for these three professional thieves—after going through all judicial procedures in the Prosecutor’s Office, Criminal Court Branch 1, and receiving final and binding confirmation from the Supreme Court, and after considering all religious and legal protocols—was officially carried out.
