UAE demands withdrawal of Israeli ambassador over misconduct in Dubai
Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Yossi Shelley, the Israeli regime’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, is expected to resign from his position and return to the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to the Palestinian news agency Ma'an, the official reason for this move is the UAE’s unwillingness to continue hosting him. Emirati authorities have expressed dissatisfaction with his inappropriate and unprofessional behavior.
One of the most controversial incidents involved his attendance at a late-night party in a Dubai bar, accompanied by a group of Israeli settlers—an act seen as a breach of diplomatic etiquette.
His security team documented the incident and reported it to Israeli authorities. The UAE also issued an official warning and made it clear they do not wish for his mission to continue. As a result, Netanyahu’s associates are reportedly seeking a new domestic position for Shelley within the occupied territories.
Emirati officials described the ambassador’s behavior as immoral and offensive, stating that it did not align with diplomatic standards and demanding his removal.
According to the report, the incident has received widespread attention in Israeli political and diplomatic circles. Some unofficial sources in Israel have said, “Shelley’s behavior is unacceptable and has damaged our reputation.”
Hebrew-language media have also covered the tensions between the ambassador and the Emirati government, particularly following the revelations from his security team’s reports.
