Verbal clash in Israeli security cabinet over Gaza war

Arabic-language media report a verbal altercation between the Israeli finance minister and the army chief of staff during a meeting of the regime's security cabinet regarding the war in Gaza.

Bezalel Smotrich, the finance minister of the Israeli regime, and Eyal Zamir, the regime’s chief of staff, clashed during a session of the security cabinet.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the army chief stated in the meeting that a full occupation of Gaza would take several years, and for now, the regime must settle for limited operations.

These remarks angered Smotrich, who lashed out at Zamir, saying: “We already miss Herzi Halevi [the former chief of staff]. You should apologize to him—you attacked him for exactly these kinds of things.”

This verbal dispute reflects the ongoing tension between the Israeli finance minister and the army leadership over the Gaza war.

In recent months, the Gaza war has caused deep divisions among senior officials of the Israeli regime.

Earlier, two ultra-Orthodox parties, particularly the Shas Party, withdrew from the ruling coalition.

Six members of the United Torah Judaism (UTJ) party submitted their resignation letters from parliamentary committees and ministries in protest over the failure to secure future exemptions from military service for ultra-Orthodox religious students.
