Death toll of journalists in Gaza rises to 231
This figure follows the killing of journalist Tamer Al-Za’anin, a photojournalist who collaborated with several media outlets, and journalist Walaa Al-Ja’abari, who worked as a news editor with multiple platforms. Their deaths bring the total number of journalists killed since the beginning of what Gaza officials call a genocidal war to 231.
According to the Palestinian news agency Safa, the Gaza Government Media Office strongly condemned what it described as the deliberate, systematic killing and targeting of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation regime. The office called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all media organizations around the world to denounce these systematic crimes against journalists and media in Gaza.
The statement further declared: “We hold the Israeli occupation regime, the United States government, and countries complicit in the genocide—such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France—fully responsible for these horrific and inhumane crimes.”
