UN officials resign over escalating pressure from Israeli regime

Reports indicate that following pressure from the Zionist regime, all members of the UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territories have resigned.

All members of the UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territories have submitted their resignations.

According to Al Mayadeen, this decision comes after months of constant pressure and obstruction by officials of the Zionist regime, raising serious concerns about the integrity of international accountability mechanisms.

These resignations come after a period of intensified pressure from the Zionist regime aimed at undermining the commission’s work, ultimately targeting their continued role. However, the UN has yet to officially confirm these resignations.

The UN Human Rights Council had appointed these commissioners in 2021 to investigate human rights violations in Palestine and the occupied territories.

Officials of the Zionist regime have repeatedly accused this commission of what they call anti-Semitism. They have refused to cooperate with the commission and have escalated diplomatic efforts to delegitimize its work.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, had previously rejected these investigations.

In its reports, the commission found reasonable grounds to conclude that Zionist military forces had committed war crimes in Gaza, including:

- Direct attacks on civilians

- Deliberate killings

- Using starvation as a method of warfare

- Sexual violence and forced displacement, including actions carried out with genocidal intent

The findings also pointed to patterns of settler violence, destruction of infrastructure, and the suppression of Palestinian society in the West Bank.

Zionist regime and the U.S. against UN staff

News of the resignation of all members of the UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territories comes as Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, has also faced the wrath of this regime and its supporters.

The United States, the main supporter of the Zionist regime and its crimes, has recently sanctioned Albanese.

The reason for this was her publication of a report titled "From the Economy of Occupation to the Economy of Genocide," which provoked anger from the Zionists and their supporters.

Albanese’s analysis of the “economy of genocide,” which links the actions of the Zionist regime in Gaza to economic interests and systematic violence, has clearly been a cause for concern for this regime and its allies.

Albanese’s reports and statements fall fully within the scope of her official duties and mandate, legally protecting her from any retaliatory or punitive measures, including economic or political sanctions in response to her official work.

However, instead of reviewing its harmful policies regarding the Zionist regime’s crimes, the U.S. government has chosen to punish those who expose its complicity. The sanctions against Albanese are a desperate attempt to suppress the truth and a warning to anyone who dares to defend the victims of the Zionist regime’s crimes.
