Suicide of Israeli soldier at Sde Teiman base

An Israeli newspaper reported on Thursday that one of the Golani Brigade troops took his own life earlier this week.

As reported by Haaretz, the soldier shot himself at the Sde Teiman base in the Negev Desert during the past week.

The Hebrew-language newspaper stated that the soldier committed suicide following an interrogation conducted by the military police investigators.

Haaretz further noted that the soldier had left the Gaza Strip to attend a training course, where military police investigators were waiting to question him regarding a previous case.

According to the paper, after the interrogation, the soldier's commanders decided to confiscate his weapon, but several hours later, he managed to obtain his friend’s weapon and used it to take his own life.
