Iran’s Foreign Minister, emphasizing that Iran will not compromise on the nation’s right to peaceful nuclear energy, stated that any destructive decision against Iran at the IAEA Board of Governors will be met with an appropriate response from Iran.

Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and Takeshi Iwaya, the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Japan, discussed bilateral relations, regional, and international developments during a phone call.

Referring to Iran’s principled stance on safeguarding the legitimate interests and inalienable rights of the Iranian people to fully benefit from peaceful nuclear energy, including enrichment, Araghchi criticized the provocative and misguided actions of the United States and three European countries in proposing an anti-Iran resolution at the IAEA Board of Governors amid indirect Iran-U.S. talks.

He emphasized that any reckless and destructive decision against Iran at the Board will face an appropriate response from Iran, with the responsibility for the consequences lying with those who misuse the IAEA for political purposes.

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s principled position, rooted in Islamic teachings, that Iran will never pursue nuclear weapons. However, he stressed, “We will not compromise on the Iranian nation’s right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.”

Araghchi also expressed hope, noting Japan’s balanced foreign policy approach, that Japan and other IAEA Board members would adopt appropriate positions and actions to strengthen the path of dialogue and engagement.

The Japanese Foreign Minister welcomed the continuation of indirect Iran-U.S. talks and emphasized Iran’s legitimate right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the ongoing dialogues and consultations between the two countries, hoping that these close contacts at all levels would continue to foster the comprehensive expansion of bilateral relations.
