Israeli security forces raid Al Jazeera office

Local sources reported to Al Jazeera this morning (Saturday) that Israeli military personnel entered the network’s office in Ramallah and extended the closure of Al Jazeera for an additional 60 days.

This is not the first time Al Jazeera’s office in the West Bank has faced such treatment. Approximately two months ago, a similar order was issued, halting the network’s activities for 60 days.

This action aims to restrict the network’s news coverage in Palestinian-inhabited areas, a network that has played a significant role in covering events during the Gaza war.

Israel’s crackdown on Al Jazeera has intensified since last year. In September of the previous year, Israeli security forces entered the network’s office in Ramallah, confiscated equipment and documents, and prevented staff from using their vehicles.

The pressure on Al Jazeera has also reached the level of political decision-making in the Zionist regime. In May of this year, the Israeli cabinet, at the request of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, approved the closure of Al Jazeera’s offices in the occupied Palestinian territories.

This decision was immediately implemented with the signature of the Communications Minister, based on a new law known as the “Al Jazeera Law.”
