Donald Trump has dismissed over 100 employees of the U.S. National Security Council as part of extensive changes to its structure.

Donald Trump and Marco Rubio, the President and acting head of the National Security Council, are pursuing comprehensive reforms within the White House's National Security Council. According to Axios, Rubio plans to reduce the council's staff from its current 350 employees to half that number.

The acting U.S. National Security Advisor intends to transfer many of the council's responsibilities to the State Department and the Pentagon.

Following these changes, the National Security Council's role will be limited to coordination and consultation, rather than implementing U.S. policies.

Trump aims to retain Rubio as the acting National Security Advisor for as long as possible.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal, citing U.S. officials, reported that 100 National Security Council employees have been reassigned to the organizations they were previously attached to.

Reuters, citing informed sources, reported that a major overhaul of the U.S. National Security Council has begun.

The U.S. President seeks to reduce the scope of the National Security Council's authority.

Employees working on several key issues within the National Security Council have received termination notices.

Additionally, Politico, citing sources, reported that the restructuring plans for the National Security Council include reducing its staff to fewer than 150 people.
