British police have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of involvement in multiple deliberate arson attacks in London, including one targeting a property belonging to the UK Prime Minister.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said the individual was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, May 13, 2025, on suspicion of “arson with intent to endanger life” and remains in custody.

The main incident occurred at 1:35 AM local time on Monday, when a fire spread to the front door of a house in north London. According to reports, the property belongs to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who previously resided there before moving to 10 Downing Street following the Labour Party’s victory in last year’s parliamentary election. The house is reportedly now leased to a tenant.

The police statement noted that, due to “the property’s prior association with a prominent political figure,” the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command has taken over the investigation. While the suspect’s motive has not yet been disclosed, all indications point to the fire being deliberate.

In addition to this incident, two other fires were reported in the same area within the past 24 hours, both linked to properties associated with the Prime Minister. Police are also investigating a possible connection to another arson attack on a vehicle in London the previous week.
