Decisive victory for Labor Party in Australian election

According to Australian television, the Labor Party achieved a decisive victory in the federal election, securing at least 86 seats in the House of Representatives, enough to form a majority government.

Meanwhile, Peter Dutton, leader of the Liberal Party and Albanese’s main opponent, conceded defeat in his Dickson electorate and officially retired from politics. Anthony Albanese, Australia’s current Prime Minister, in his victory speech in Sydney, thanked voters, stating: “Serving as Prime Minister is the greatest honor of my life.”

He added: “My government is ready to work with hope, confidence, and renewed determination for the next three years.”

Australian television predicted that Labor could achieve an even larger majority with a significant margin. The network described Labor’s victory as a “historic defeat” for the Coalition, noting that the party outperformed polls across the country.

According to initial results, Labor captured at least 13 seats previously held by the Liberal Party, with close races still ongoing in some electorates.
