Escalation of clashes and worsening security situation in Damascus suburbs

According to Al-Mayadeen news network, local sources in the Damascus suburbs stated that the town of Ashrafiyeh Sahnaya witnessed armed clashes today between security forces linked to the Jolani regime and local groups.

According to the report, these clashes have been sporadic and continuous, involving the use of mortars, medium machine guns, and armed drones, targeting residential areas in the towns of Ashrafiyeh Sahnaya and Sahnaya.

Based on field reports, military forces affiliated with the Jolani regime have used heavy weaponry to target the positions of forces defending these areas. In this regard, a field source reported that drones were used to attack the positions of local groups in Sahnaya and Jaramana.

Al-Mayadeen reported that, amid the escalation of clashes, security forces affiliated with the Damascus Suburbs Security Administration have launched an operation in the area.

According to an official statement from the Damascus Suburbs Security Administration, several local group strongholds have been identified and searched, a number of individuals have been detained, and the operation is still ongoing.

In this context, security sources affiliated with the Jolani regime reported that 16 of their forces were killed in recent attacks by local groups in Ashrafiyeh Sahnaya.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense also announced that military forces have been deployed at the entrances and exits of the area to ensure the safety of citizens and control the situation.
