Pakistan’s warning of imminent Indian attack

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Pakistan announced it has credible intelligence indicating that India is planning to launch a military operation soon.
This warning comes as tensions between the two neighboring countries have intensified following a deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir.
Islamabad stated in its announcement that it condemns terrorism in all forms and will respond confidently and decisively to any Indian military action.
Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan’s Information Minister, said the country has reliable intelligence suggesting India intends to carry out a military attack against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours.
He added, “Any Indian military provocation will be met with a resolute response, and we will defend our sovereignty at all costs.”
Meanwhile, Reuters, citing an Indian government source, reported that India’s Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), comprising the Prime Minister and the Ministers of Home, Defense, and Finance, is scheduled to meet late Wednesday. Another informed source said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has told army commanders they have the freedom to decide on the response to the Pahalgam attack.
Cross-border small-arms fire between the two armies has spread to more points along the India-Pakistan border.
The Indian army stated it responded to unprovoked firing from several Pakistani army posts around midnight on Tuesday, marking the sixth consecutive violation of the ceasefire agreement.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres, in separate phone calls with India and Pakistan, emphasized the need to avoid confrontation that could lead to tragic consequences.
Since the tourist attack in Kashmir, New Delhi has scaled back relations with Islamabad, closed a key border crossing, and, for the first time, suspended its participation in a significant water-sharing treaty.
On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, gunmen opened fire on tourists at a popular tourist destination in the mountainous Pahalgam region (part of Kashmir under Indian control).
Kashmir police have identified three suspects, including two Pakistani nationals, in connection with the attack.
Pakistan, however, has denied any involvement, with its defense minister stating that an international investigation into the attack is necessary.
