The importance of Judicial Diplomacy is no less than Political Diplomacy
Hamed Yazdian, in an interview with Mizan’s reporter regarding Mohseni Ejei’s trip to China, said: “The importance of judicial diplomacy is not less than that of political and economic diplomacy. It is, in a way, a necessity for human societies and various countries in contexts where there are diverse interactions and exchanges between nations, making judicial diplomacy essential.”
He added: “When interactions and exchanges between countries increase and they engage more with one another, naturally, certain issues and disputes arise, particularly among traders. This is where legal and judicial matters come into play, requiring the judicial systems of both countries to negotiate and resolve these issues.”
The representative of Isfahan further asserted: “Therefore, judicial diplomacy is particularly necessary for Iran, especially with countries with which it has significant economic ties and where there is considerable movement of citizens between the two nations. China is one of Iran’s major trading partners, with a large volume of imports from and exports to this country. Many individuals engage in commercial interactions between the two countries, and occasionally, judicial cases arise, including issues related to customs and other legal challenges.”
Commenting on the role of this trip in upholding the rights of Iranians abroad, Yazdian explained: “For Iranians residing in China and other countries, it is essential for our country’s judiciary to establish effective communication with the judicial system of those countries to defend the rights of Iranians. The Judiciary Chief’s trip is significant in this regard.”
He emphasized: “Iran is an advanced country in terms of its judicial system, with robust judicial laws based on Islamic principles. The more we participate in international summits and forums, the better we can articulate the judicial foundations of Islam. This contributes to the salvation of humanity in various events, crimes, and convictions occurring around the world.”
The representative concluded: “All these developments highlight the growing necessity of judicial diplomacy for countries. In particular, during the trip undertaken by Mohseni Ejei, important decisions were made, including the decision to hold the next summit in 2026 in Tehran. This decision reflects Iran’s significant global standing in judicial matters.”
