Judiciary Chief’s trip to Hangzhou, China, to attend the 20th meeting of heads of judicial systems of SCO member states

According to the Media Center of the Judiciary, Mohseni Ejei, Chief Justice of the Islamic Republic of Iran, will depart on Monday (April 21) to attend the 20th meeting of the heads of judicial systems of SCO member states in Hangzhou, China. During the visit, the Chief Justice will deliver speeches at the opening and closing ceremonies of the meeting and hold bilateral meetings with the heads of judicial systems of SCO member states.
In his participation and address at the SCO judicial meeting, the Chief Justice will propose strategic and practical solutions to enhance coordination and legal-judicial cooperation among the member states of this significant organization.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, encompassing over 40% of the world’s population, is the largest regional organization in terms of geographical scope and population. Its member states are advancing joint efforts in economic, political, security, defense, and legal-judicial domains, positioning the SCO as a key platform for convergence.
Given the diversity of its member states and their vast industrial, scientific, economic, commercial, resource, defense, military, and energy capacities, the SCO has the potential to function as a comprehensive, self-sufficient entity, meeting its needs with minimal reliance on external countries. In this context, developing a multilateral legal and judicial convergence program to combat terrorism, transnational and organized crime, and to establish joint mechanisms to address drug trafficking, human trafficking, cybercrimes, and other forms of judicial and legal assistance is a priority.
In recent years, the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran has made significant strides in advancing judicial diplomacy, particularly in strengthening supportive laws and cooperation on extradition of criminals with other countries. At the SCO judicial meeting, the Chief Justice will present specific, practical, and strategic proposals to enhance judicial cooperation at regional and international levels, aimed at establishing lasting peace, security, and justice globally.
