"Abu Mazen" and the scandal of serving the Zionist regime; betrayal of the Palestinian cause

After the start of the occupation regime’s brutal war against the Gaza Strip in October 2023, some might have thought that the PA, headed by Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), might change its approach towards the Zionist regime; but this did not happen, and this organization even increased its cooperation and coordination with the Zionists and Americans to please them in giving the government of Gaza to this organization.
In this context, the International Crisis Group announced in a report that the acute existential crisis of the Palestinian Authority has worsened in recent times, and Palestinian hatred of this organization is increasing day by day. On the other hand, Israel also accuses the PA of being ineffective in suppressing the Palestinian resistance and fighters in the West Bank.
The Zionist regime launched a major military campaign in the northern West Bank on January 21, two days after the implementation of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The attacks carried out by the occupiers in this area led to the widespread destruction of camps and nearby urban areas and the displacement of at least several thousand people, to the extent that the United Nations compares Israel’s crimes in the northern West Bank with the regime’s crimes in Gaza.
While the PA claimed to represent the Palestinian people and protect them in the West Bank, the dimensions of this organization’s betrayal of the Palestinian people are evident in the occupation regime’s recent widespread attacks on the northern West Bank, and this organization is helping the Zionists in pursuing and targeting Palestinian resistance fighters in the West Bank.
Here, we intend to describe the general situation of the Palestinian Authority at the current stage, based on the analyses of experts and researchers specializing in Palestinian affairs, in a few cases:
1. The Palestinian Authority bears the greatest responsibility for the developments in the West Bank.
2. Contrary to its claims, the PA has failed to provide a real alternative to realize the aspirations of the Palestinian people and is a major factor in the stagnation of the Palestinian political system.
3. The PA is responsible for the political deadlock and the continuation of the internal division in Palestine.
4. The PA’s abdication of national responsibility in realizing the aspirations of the Palestinian people pushes these people toward other national forces that are more capable of realizing national aspirations.
5. From the beginning, the PA has pursued its policies with the idea that it does not need the Palestinian people for its survival; rather, it needs the support of the United States and Israel.
6. The PA has concluded that there is no alternative to it, and therefore, despite the strong dissatisfaction of the Palestinian people with its performance, there is no incentive in the PA to carry out reforms.
7. The PA is effectively a civil administration that does not consider itself obligated to adopt a national political position.
8. The PA lacks any political vision to replace the Oslo Accords, while the Zionist regime has systematically violated this agreement and does not comply with its provisions.
9. The Palestinian Authority has ended politically and practically, and contrary to what was stated in the Oslo Accords, no serious role or position has been considered for this organization, and its main mission is to coordinate with the Zionist regime and serve the interests of this regime.
10. The PA is responsible for the collapse of the Palestinian security system in the face of the Zionist regime’s brutality and has not made any firm and practical objection to the regime’s crimes against the Palestinians.
11. In a situation where the Zionist regime has decided to turn the camps in the north of the West Bank into a small Gaza and destroy them, the PA has not taken any action to confront these aggressions of the occupiers and even helps them, so the aforementioned organization cannot claim to be dominant over the West Bank.
Accordingly, analysts believe that as long as the United States and Europe continue to provide financial support to the PA, the PA will remain. This organization does not matter to the Palestinian people.
The inability of the PA to create a coherent political structure and the absence of effective leaders in this organization have led to its lack of any independent decision-making or decision-making authority, and in fact, it is the United States and the Zionist regime that even decide on the organization's internal issues.
The PA has not developed any strategic vision and has relied on a practically non-existent political line in a way that it has always relied on the promise of the United States and Arab countries to implement the two-state solution. At the same time, it knows that the Zionists will never allow the establishment of a Palestinian state.
This is why some Palestinians consider the PA to be a major obstacle in the fight against the occupation, and some believe that it is a huge burden on the Palestinians and prevents the Palestinian people from aiming their weapons at the occupying enemy in a unified manner.
Considering the above, the PA is in a situation where it cannot even defend itself and has reached a point where even the Zionist regime may not need it after a while, because due to the weakness and passivity of the organization, the Zionist regime has taken control of a large part of the West Bank.
Today, the PA has become an institution similar to a municipality in the West Bank, and its role is limited to this institution because, over the years, it has made many concessions to the enemy under futile pretexts such as wise deals.
